The Global Film Forum (GFF) is a place where government leaders, film commissioners and representatives of national film communities can meet filmmakers, producers, studio executives and other potential partners. The GFF seeks to provide delegates from the developing world the tools, incentives, procedures and infrastructure necessary to attract feature film production to their locales. Producers will offer “case studies,” and share their experiences of shooting in developing countries. Keynotes and panels will be conducted with established entertainment industry professionals on various themes, including:
Production and Safety – How safe is it for a Producer or Production Company to bring crew and talent on location? What production systems and infrastructures are in place? Are common fears myths or reality?
Financial Procedures – The financial transactions of a film production on location should be “transparent.” Standard accounting procedures, payroll and accounts receivable/payable must conform to accepted international norms.
Professionalism – Producers and directors must be assured that production resources are attainable on location. From finding (or training) competent local crews to the provision of adequate accommodation, transportation and guest services, production executives expect high standards. What can local leaders do to assure that these needs are met?
Investment Opportunities, Financial Structures and Tax Laws – What incentives, rebates and tax credits are available for film production? How timely and efficiently are they administered? This section will address the core financial issues involved in attracting global film production to a location. Investors and financiers will discuss their financial outcomes in these areas and their suggestions for future productions.
This program will take place in May 2009
