The International Emerging Film Talent Association’s Lacey Tu (pictured) was honoured to present the Cambridge International Student Film Festival Impact Award to the winning entry: "Worth Every Penny" at the Watersprite Student Film Festival 2019. The winner will participate in Marché du Film - Festival de Cannes' Industry Workshops at this year’s Festival de Cannes....

IEFTA hosted it's 2nd Global Emerging Talent Conference in Addis Ababa this week The International Emerging Talent Film Association (IEFTA) invited Ethiopian Filmmakers to apply for the chance to meet with Film Producers and Film Festival Directors from around the world. Eleven Filmmakers were selected to meet one-on-one with industry professionals to discuss and receive advice on developing their current projects. In attendance were Dorothee Wenner - Filmmaker and Programmer at Berlinale, Keith Shiri - International Film Curator and Programme Advisor to the BFI London Film Festival, Bernadette Schramm - IEFTA Global Film Expression Director and Watersprite Film Festival Producer and Gary Springer - Entertainment Publicist and Consultant. Our industry professionals met for one-to-one meetings with talented filmmakers and hosted masterclasses open to both students and established filmmakers....

The 2nd Gobal Film Expression Conference (GFEC 2018) The International Emerging Film Talent Association (IEFTA) is hosting it's 2nd Gobal Film Expression Conference (GFEC 2018) in Addis Ababa on 14-16 December 2018. The conference in Addis is the weekend of December 15 and the IEFTA invites Ethiopian Filmmakers to the chance to meet with Film Producers and Film Festival Directors from around the worldat the event. One of the filmmakers selected will come to Cannes FIlm Festival and participate in workshops in the Marché Du Film. Find out more here....

IEFTA awards prize to Farzana Boby to attend industry workshops at Cannes 2019 Dhaka DocLab, held in Dhaka, Bangladeshis an initiative that focuses on mentoring documentary filmmakers from South Asia. At this year's event, held from 31st August – 5th September 2018, workshops, seminars and masterclasses in technical aspects of filmmaking spanned the first three days, the second segment allowed 15 delegates to pitch projects to the industry expert based panel. As a jury member, the IEFTA awarded a deserving Farzana Boby this year’s prize of joining us in the industry workshops hosted in partnership with the Marche du Film at the upcoming Festival de Cannes in May 2019....

Call for Ethiopian Filmmakers to meet with International Film Professionals The International Emerging Talent Films Association (IEFTA) invites Ethiopian Filmmakers to apply for the chance to meet with Film Producers and Film Festival Directors from the United States and Europe. 12 Filmmakers will be selected to meet one-on-one with the professionals to discuss and receive advice on developing their current projects. Projects can be at any stage of development, from initial idea to post-production, and the projects can be short or feature length and either narrative or documentary. The meetings will take place in Addis Ababa between 15 – 17 December 2017. To apply please submit the following information via email to info@iefta.org by 20 November 2017: One-page project description featuring a log-line, a short synopsis, a long synopsis and the stage of project development One-page biography and CV All applications must be submitted in English. Applications received after 20 November will not be taken into consideration. Finalists will be contacted by 1 December 2017 by IEFTA and collaborating partner, ACTION, to provide more information about the professionals and the meeting schedule for the finalists.  ...

The Dhaka to Cannes initiative - the first ever of its kind - is launched in Bangladesh Organised by the International Film Initiative of Bangladesh (IFIB) in partnership with International Emerging Film Talent Association (IEFTA) the Dhaka to Cannes initiative is kicked off with the selection of three emerging Bangladeshi filmmakers: Lubna Sharmin, Kazi Mahadi Muntasir and Md Abid Mallick, who are chosen to attend Cannes Film Festival 2017 as a part of the opportunity, mentorship and workshop programme. The association IEFTA, based in the Principality, promotes young directors from emerging countries in Cannes, and takes advantage of the Festival du Film to reflect on the issue of refugees....

The 2nd annual Refugee Voices in Film screenings with Doc Corner at this years Cannes Film Festival explored UNHCR's innovative approaches to refugee messaging, with a particular focus on the Mediterranean and mixed migration movements....

In a statement the International Emerging Talent Films Association (IEFTA) said it was “deeply saddened” by the French embassy's decision to reject visa to two Bangladeshis expected to join the Cannes Film Festival. The Marché du Film had approved participation of all three candidates of the International Film Initiative of Bangladesh (IFIB), but the French Embassy in Dhaka denied visas for the two male applicants, 'Malick' and 'Muntasir'. The third finalist, Lubna Sharmin, has been granted visa. IEFTA’s President Marco Orsini said the IEFTA is “committed to the success of IFIB in Bangladesh and will continue to support filmmakers from Bangladesh”. Read more ...
