IEFTA Invited as Jury Member for Palestinian Sunbird Awards

Palestine Cinema Days, now in its 9th edition, have invited IEFTA Board Member Marco Orsini to participate as a Jury Member for this years Palestinian Sunbird Production Film Award.

Palestine Cinema Days launched the Palestinian Sunbird competitions during its 2016 edition to support and celebrate Palestinian and foreign productions related to Palestine. Local and international renowned film professionals join Palestine Cinema Days every year as jury members to select the winning films and projects.

Film Lab Palestine launched the first edition of Palestine Cinema Days in 2014 and since then the Festival became an annual event held in October of each year. It aims to put Palestine on the map of the global Cinema industry and the film scene, in addition to promoting local and international films across several places in different cities within Palestine.

Artist, designer and filmmaker, Khaled Jarrar, designed the awards’ trophy inspired by the Palestine Sunbird. This bird has been pushed out of the diminishing green spaces in Palestine to urban overcrowded spaces. Against all odds, the bird managed to stay alive and cope outside of its natural habitat. This small Palestinian bird has become a symbol of resistance and resilience.
