
30 Jul Amman Film Industry Days Winners Announced
After six days of intensive workshops, panels and discussions, the Amman Film Industry Days (AFID) concluded its activities and the winners were announced at a private ceremony held at the Royal Film Commission, Jordan in the presence of the competing filmmakers, the jury members and a number of local and regional media outlets.
We are delighted to announce that the winner of the IEFTA $5000 cash prize to a Film in Development went to the Egyptian Fiction project, and IEFTA Alumni, “Aisha Can’t Fly Away Anymore”, directed by Morad Mostafa & produced by Sawsan Yusuf, having been chosen by an independent jury who selected nine film projects in all to receive cash and in-kind awards in the development and post-production categories.
In addition they also won The Cell Award further extending the accolade with an in-kind coloring services, or a full promotion package, or DCP for a film in post-production for the value of US$ 10,000.
Other IEFTA Alumni also won other prizes during the Amman Film Industry Days (AFID) Awards Ceremony:
“50 meters” directed by Yomna Khattab & produced by Ahmad Amer (Egypt) won the DOXBOX Award: A three-day consultancy at DOX GARAGE for a documentary project in development, and “Bye Bye Tiberias” directed by Lina Soualem & produced by Jean Marie Nizan, that won the Nation Productions Award which is a US$ 5000 cash award for a film in post-production, as well as the FilmLab Palestine Award which is an in-kind prize of colour grading services for a documentary film in post-production for the value of US$ 15,000..
Commenting on the winning projects and their high potential, the jury said in its statement:
“The projects are beautiful, and we liked them, some of which are really of high quality and deserve support and all the love.”
