Baghdad Film Institute and IEFTA Collaborate at Cannes Docs 2025

The Baghdad Film Institute (BFI) is a new organisation dedicated to empowering Iraqi filmmakers and sustaining the future of Iraqi stories through film. IEFTA are very happy to be announcing our collaboration with the young institute!

We will be helping to support their attendance to the Cannes Marché du Film, where the Institute will introduce itself officially as Iraq’s first dedicated platform bridging film education, industry engagement and international collaboration.

Cannes will be a fantastic environment for the BFI to raise awareness of Iraq’s growing creative sector, and showcase the emerging energy, talent and global potential of the region. The Institute will advocate for increased investment in the region, and establish partnerships with key international institutions, festivals and other allies. They will enable a cultural dialogue between Iraq and the global film community.
