24 Dec ‘Ghost Boat’ Awarded World Cinema Fund Post- Production Funding Prize
Join us in congratulating co-directors Tanim Yousuf, Kauser Haider and producer Patrick Hamm on the recent success of their Bangladeshi film Ghost Boat, bringing home €35,000 at the 41st jury session of the Berlinale World Cinema Fund (WCF). Their emotionally resonant story captivated at 2022’s Dhaka DocLab, where the film won IEFTA’s support.
Tanim and Kauser’s harrowing story follows Amena, a mother searching for her son Joynal, who disappeared nine years earlier during a maritime trafficking journey in Malaysia. Using a raw and grounding cinema-verité style, the story is one of determination, discovery and hope among tragic circumstances – circumstances which unfortunately continue to persist in our modern world.
