IEFTA’s Global Film Expression initiative in Ethiopia on hiatus in 2022

In response to changes in the global film industry, especially relating to project development and talent mentoring and support, the International Emerging Film Talent Association (IEFTA.org) is putting its Global Film Expression initiative in Ethiopia on hiatus for 2022.

“After more than a decade building filmmaking capacity in Ethiopia, supporting education programs, bringing filmmakers to leading festivals and organizing trainings in country, we realize that our approach needs to evolve with the times, so we’re hitting pause for this year in order to evaluate how we can be even more effective in our work with Ethiopian Filmmakers,”

Says Lianne Llewellyn, Director of the GFE Initiative IEFTA Partnerships.

We look forward to sharing our new vision for the GFE in Ethiopia and elsewhere in the coming months.

Meanwhile, we invite our filmmaking friends in Ethiopia to apply to the various programs, festivals and film labs that we regularly publicize in our blog and on social media.

Local Partners Action Media & Communication and Gobez Media will be hosting an application preparation session for filmmaker’s working on their applications on Saturday, November 7, from 14:00 – 17:00. Please contact Henok Mebratu at henook@gmail.com for more information and to reserve your spot.
