The Durban Filmmart (DFM) 2024 showcased exceptional talent, and we at the International Emerging Film Talent Association (IEFTA) are thrilled to support these remarkable projects and the vibrant community of Durban. Our participation highlighted significant achievements, and we proudly celebrate the outstanding contributions of the talents we backed. Winner: “Baptism of Silence” (South Africa)
Director: Kanya Viljoen
Award: A mentorship award presented in the Talents Durban section, with the aim to nurture and guide emerging filmmakers.
Torino Film Lab Collaboration
Project: “Numalali” (My Voice, My Void) (Guatemala)
Producers: Alberto Rodriguez Collia and Kurt Orderson
Director: Kimeshree Munsamy
Award: IEFTA covered the participation fees for this project to be part of the TFL Next Workshop in 2025.
DOK Leipzig Collaboration
Project: “Africa AI” (South Africa)

Award: A travel scholarship for participation in the Co-Production Market in October 2024. This marks the fourth consecutive year of our collaboration with DOK Leipzig.
Movies That Matter Collaboration
Project: “We Had The Moon”
Award: A travel scholarship for the project’s team to attend ‘Movies That Matter’ in March 2025.

Additional Highlights
Marco Orsini, one of the co-founders of IEFTA, attended the DFM Pitch & Finance Forum as a Decision Maker/Industry Guest. He engaged with nearly all the participating projects, providing valuable insights and guidance.
Talent Durban Masterclass
Marco Orsini and Toni Monty also hosted a masterclass on Film Resilience, inspiring emerging talents with their expertise and experiences.
