In December of 2021, IEFTA returned to Addis Ababa (virtually), to host the Global Film Expression Conference in Ethiopia. This legacy event, which helped launch IEFTA on its mission back in 2007, is now in its 14th iteration. The subsequent growth of film education and creation of training programs for film production professionals in Ethiopia (and adjacent countries) has been nothing short of astonishing.

The subsequent growth of film education and creation of training programs for film production professionals in Ethiopia (and adjacent countries) has been nothing short of astonishing.
This year, IEFTA team-members conducted workshops, tutorials and interactive Q&A sessions, discussing their area-specialisations and advising participants about their projects based on materials that had been shared in advance.
At the conclusion of the conference, two filmmakers and their projects were selected for ongoing IEFTA mentorship and support. Biniyam Sinkeneh and Mikias Mulugeta have since been working with IEFTA consultants to develop their projects Sanita and I am an Entrepreneur, respectively..
