Synopsis: Years after leaving her Palestinian village to pursue an acting career in France, Hiam Abbass returns home with her daughter, in this intimate documentary about four generations of women and their shared legacy of separation.

IEFTA has been a long term supporter of Lina Soualem after first meeting her in Cannes where she won the €10,000 IEFTA Docs-in-Progress Award at the Cannes Marché du Film Doc in progress showcase in 2019 with her film Their Algeria. IEFTA has continued to support Lina throughout the journey of her second feature length documentary film Bye Bye Tiberias.

IEFTA is also excited to announce that Bye Bye Tiberias has also been nominated for an Independent Spirit Award 2024 for Best Documentary.

IEFTA gave the project Goodbye Julia an honorary mention at the 2020 El Gouna Film Festival Cinegouna Springboard Platform Awards Ceremony and went on to have mentoring sessions with the team when they were in the early development phase.

IEFTA selected the Eat Bitter team for mentorship at the 2021 Durban FilmMart Pitch and Finance Forum. In addition to the ongoing mentorship IEFTA have also supported the Eat Bitter team to attend DOK Leipzig (2021 virtual edition) as well as the Documentary Association of Europe (DAE) 2022 online showcase.
