In a statement the International Emerging Talent Films Association (IEFTA) said it was “deeply saddened” by the French embassy's decision to reject visa to two Bangladeshis expected to join the Cannes Film Festival. The Marché du Film had approved participation of all three candidates of the International Film Initiative of Bangladesh (IFIB), but the French Embassy in Dhaka denied visas for the two male applicants, 'Malick' and 'Muntasir'. Biennially, the International Emerging Talent Film Association (IEFTA) and the Ethiopian Film initiative (EFI) join forces to organise a sponsored trip to the Cannes Film Festival.
